Women & the Wind Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit whose intention is to support women-led, environmentally-focused adventure projects.
The Women & the Wind film has been produced with the purpose of laying the foundation for this endeavor, and nearly half of the budget for the film has been provided through crowdfunding, patrons, and donors. This film would not have been possible without this generosity. The foundation’s intention is to extend this generosity to other women leading their own first-time, high-risk projects. And being a donation-based organization, your support is what helps make it all happen!

We were very fortunate to have raised half of our film budget through a Kickstarter campaign in 2023. As first time filmmakers, the creation of this film has been an ever-evolving learning process, and the end-cost of production has fluctuated throughout.
Funds raised have gone towards reimbursements for expenses acquired to complete the voyage (primarily: film and audio equipment, provisions, and transportation costs), the preliminary teaser trailer, editing of the feature-length documentary, composition of an original score, sound design, animation, sound mixing, color grading, and any other components of post-production needed to finalize the film. Funds also go towards legal, marketing and publicity, and other bureaucracies such as film festival submissions, etc.
Any parts of the budget remaining will remain in the nonprofit and be placed in a fund for the support of future projects. Part of profits from this film will also be used as such.
